Shannon and Christie-Lee’s agonising journey was the start of something amazing. After their baby boy was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January 2012, the family made an outstanding commitment to ensuring other children would not suffer as little Ethan did.
With the Telethon Kids Institute, Shannon and Christie-Lee have established the Ethan Davies Scholarship for Brain Cancer Research which will speed the discovery of a cure and better treatment for children with brain tumours.
The Telethon Kids Institute has a dedicated cancer research group and a world-class brain tumour research team who are working hard to find answers.
The generosity of Shannon and Christie-Lee, and their family and friends – together with ongoing community support – will make a difference to generations of children.
Our sincere thanks to all who supported the Ethan Davies Scholarship. Your contribution will help find better treatment and hopefully one a day a cure for the type of brain tumour which has affected Ethan.
Telethon Kids Institute
Telethon Kids Institute is one of the largest, and most successful medical research institutes in Australia.
The Institute was among the first to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to major health issues: clinical research, laboratory sciences and epidemiologists all under the one roof, to tackle complex diseases impacting children and families.
With the help of the generous community, we continue to strive for answers to the big questions in childhood disease and disability and to deliver hope through life-changing research.
